Summary: For the first reveal of our Classic Jersey, we created a Back to the Future themed teaser. Multiple talented people from the Warriors Studio team were involved in this project with my main contribution being the 3D modeling and texturing of Hershey Park Arena from scratch.
Process: The Classic Jersey pays homage to the original jersey of the 1946 Philadelphia Warriors. How do we build excitement for this classic release? A GSW team member had a brilliant idea to recreate an inspired Back to the Future themed teaser video. We had limited time and budget, and on set the words "It can be done in post!" were constantly iterated! After the shoot I was tasked with 3D modeling Hershey Park which were used in most of the first scenes of the teaser. Working from reference photos and with the Cinema 4D polygon tool I spent 3 straight days modeling. I then textured and rendered the model in Octane and sent it off to the editor/compositor who did his magic.
Design Language: Trying to recreate as many discernible features of the building as I could, I started from just one four-sided 2D polygon and built it out from there into a full 3D building. It was tedious but in the end was worth it. The textures were taken from photographs of real concrete.
